PROTAGONISTS

Francesco Interlandi

Francesco Interlandi, 22 years old, is studying Sound Design at the Conservatorio “G.B. Martini” in Bologna.

Graduated in Electronic Music, he began his musical journey at a very young age by studying guitar, before shifting his focus to flute and piano. Around the age of 10, he started independently learning about electronic music and composition. At 18, he decided to pursue a more in-depth study of electronic music.

His passion for visual art, which he has always nurtured alongside his musical pursuits, has led him to develop a symbiotic vision between sound and image, composing with a close focus on sound “form” and timbral detail.

SOUND INSTALLATION

Ganesha-Liotru

Sound installation for two speakers (2024)

The “Ganesha-Liotru,” a god of civilization and drought, is a central figure in a fictional mythology and represents the incoherent and hyperbolic dichotomy of various historical and cultural contexts, united in a simple figure: that of the elephant.

The importance of the belly in Indian mythology, the figure of the pawn (from Arabic Al-fil, which means “the elephant”) in Arab chess, and the cultural and historical connection of the Catanese “Liotru” are all transfigured into timbres, movements, and sound developments that aim to immerse the listener in these themes, even if they are culturally distant from their own experience.
