The Museum of Industrial Heritage documents and shares the economic and productive history of Bologna and its surrounding area from the late Middle Ages to the contemporary era.
Located on the city’s outskirts, the museum is housed in a restored brick kiln dating back to the second half of the 19th century.
The exhibits trace Bologna’s economic and industrial development, from the “City of Water and Silk” to the Industrial Revolution and the rise of the modern mechanical and electromechanical district.
The museum employs an interdisciplinary approach and diverse sources, reflected in its displays. Machines, working models, laboratory equipment, scientific instruments, and video and computer installations provide context, explain historical backgrounds, and enhance the narrative, inviting visitors to explore Bologna’s industrial evolution in greater depth.
